Welcome to a CV project that has been years in the making. YES! Even before we knew we would be volunteers--ages before we even knew deviantArt existed--we were working on this collection of tutorials to bring only the most refined and technologically advanced methods to your interweb doorstep.
As we all know #devart is our main hub of activity on the chat network. New people, old people, ugly people and leftover staff that have nothing better to do join this room on a regular basis.
But how should one act in this room to get along?
This article will help those old and new to #devart learn the best way to follow the rules.
For a companion on how to make friends read: Learn This: Making Friends In Chats
1. What to do when joining the room.
When you join #devart it's polite greet only staff members and senior members, no one else because why do they matter?
Everyone knows this is how you join, as you grow to know these people personalize your greeting with links to your own work. Around 12 thumbs would be acceptable.
2. How to get your ideas heard.
When you see people talking and you want to join in, you'll notice that when a new person joins into a line of conversation their first 3 lines of text will be in all caps. This signals to the group that a new participant should be considered formally added to the conversation. If you do not fully caps the first three lines you'll be shunned for 2 hours. which would be the worst ever.
To make sure you always join all conversations, why not just cruise with caps lock on? Safer for everyone.
3. How to interact with staff when they are active.
When speaking with staff it is highly important to tie everything into your religious beliefs or lack thereof. Make sure to remind them constantly that you pray for them, or you have included them in your meditation, or for the atheists out there, let them know you have experimented with their DNA scientifically.
All staff members enjoy hearing they all beliefs incorporate them into their structure. Extra points if you explain to them why they should believe the same as you.
4. How to liven up the room if it's dead.
If you ever join #devart during soccer mom hours of the east coast of the US, then you know it's a time for sad people who either work nights, or useless people who have too much free time. It's extremely easy to kick-start conversations.
All you need to do is tab every user in the room in one line of text, and post 3 youtube videos in the same line. Everyone will start talking about your amazing choices.
5. So you wanna make a good exit.
All's you gotta do is send as many of the same character as possible. This works best if repeated in multiple lines of text.
There is no better way to leave chat then showing everyone which button on the keyboard you favor the most.
Now you are ready!
Be on your way! Enjoy all that there is to enjoy about #devart. You will be the most successful deviant in the room. You will last many seconds and maybe even last beyond your first line of text!
I wish you the best in your chatting endeavors!
